JUST CLING IT!: MARCH’S WINNER

The March “Just Cling It!” Winner, Shannon Vargo and her family live with the mindset that every decision matters. One decision they make daily is choosing to eat healthy food. To keep our minds and bodies in great shape, we know that nourishing them with healthy food is essential. The LeBron James Family Foundation awarded the family with groceries for a month to champion the family’s efforts.

Aden is a 4th grade Wheels for Education student at Harris Elementary. To start the day off right, he enjoys a big bowl of cereal or oatmeal for breakfast. Ten hours of sleep a night, well balanced meals, and lots of extracurricular activities keep this family’s energy levels high! Aden loves to play basketball, football and baseball, and his little sister, Ayanna, loves to compete in dance and beauty pageants.

The Akron Public School System is deeply rooted in this family as Aden’s older sister also attended Harris and recently graduated. Shannon reflected on the family’s journey thus far and stated, “The development of my kids was due in part to Akron After School and it is currently one of Aden’s favorite parts of the school day. Since Aden became a WFE kid last year, I’ve noticed growth and change in my son. Having LeBron’s positive influence gives Aden a sense of leadership. He is on student council, is a room monitor, and makes responsible decisions.”

How neat is it to think that the basic decisions we make in our day-to-day lives can have a huge impact on our entire life? For Aden, reading the PROMISE that is proudly hung on his wall is one of those decisions. Not only that, but he lives it out by getting adequate rest, eating healthy meals with his family, and exercising. Aden continues to be an All Star WFE kid and his family is a constant champion in his journey to graduation!
