"Being a hero to this girl Ebony is the reason that I keep going every single day!" – LeBron James

For LeBron and his Miami Heat teammates, Saturday’s contest against the Bucks brought them more than another victory in the stat column. Ebony Nettles-Bey, the high school basketball player fighting to beat stage 4 cancer, brought the team perspective.

"Basketball has put me in a position that I will never take for granted." – LeBron James

Ebony, who went to the game with her family and friends, was excited just to watch her idol play. As she says, she thought LeBron might wave to her, or that they would simply trade glances. Little did she know, LeBron and his teammates had something extra special in store.

Upon arriving at the arena, Ebony, her family, and her friends were whisked away and taken to the away team’s tunnel. Under the thousands of seats at the Harris Bradley Center, Ebony’s night took a star-studded shift.

Ebony was no longer a spectator, with the Miami Heat huddled around her, she was a teammate, a friend, and a role model.

After talking to the team, Ebony led the hard charging Heat out onto the court where she and LeBron exchanged jump shots and got ready for the game.

With Ebony as their spiritual leader, LeBron and the Heat outscored the Bucks in every quarter en route to a 21-point victory.
