For LeBron’s Wheels for Ed kids who graduated into sixth grade and the Akron I PROMISE Network, one phrase embodies their attitude, and it comes directly from their champion:
"In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned. You work for what you have." – LeBron James
On a frigid fall afternoon, The University of Akron community came together for Homecoming 2014. "When we left the Welcome Home LeBron Celebration in August, we did not leave campus and InfoCision better than we found it," said Foundation team member and Zips alum, Stephanie Myers, as she talked to our Akron I PROMISE Network students and their parents. "We have to leave a positive mark on our community and that is why we have returned to serve and give back to The University of Akron." After receiving their instructions, our AIPN students and their parents headed to InfoCision Stadium’s stands where they recycled and picked up garbage.
After cleaning the stadium, our students and their parents were gathered around to receive their new school year incentives in recognition of completing another year of the program and sticking with us!
LeBron’s AIPN students EARNED Beats Pills courtesy of Mr. LeBron and Beats by Dre. To go along with their Pill, students received Pill holders to attach to their bikes.
In addition to their Beats Pill and Pill bike caddy, LeBron’s kids received their official AIPN uniform, a brand new, navy blue and lime green Nike sweatshirt. The AIPN students were scheduled to receive these items at the Family Reunion but when the Reunion evolved into Welcome Home LeBron, the Foundation Team felt it was best to give out middle school incentives at a later date. Students who were unable to attend the Service Event will receive their items from their Principal at their home school later this month.
Our AIPN students will have their second community service event in the spring.
