The I PROMISE School is unlike any other place of learning on the planet. Starting the day with hugs and high fives, continuing with regular PROMISE circles of support and sharing, and offering resources for the entire family all in the same building. All of this is wrapped in LeBron’s We Are Family philosophy that extends to every student, every staff member, and every partner. It’s an unparalleled public school that wouldn’t be possible without the layers of resources, time, and care each of the Foundation’s partners pours into IPS on a daily basis.
One of our newest family members, 3M, made the trip to Akron this week to personally deliver six palettes worth of products and school supplies for the teachers and students at IPS. This generous outpouring of support eliminates one more worry for the staff as they focus their energy and time on catching the students up. We look forward to more big things to come with this incredible new partnership with 3M.
We also got a special visit from the Nike team who toured the I PROMISE School in search of ways they can further integrate into the curriculum and care for our kids. IPS is a perfect model of their “It’s only crazy until you do it” campaign and we’re excited to see the swoosh continue to come to life at IPS.
The best part of all, is our kids are putting these resources into practice daily and showing the world what family looks like. A quick look at the IPS Instagram page this week shows the students engaged in an art lesson inspired by one of our very first visitors, Kris Rhymes, getting hugs and smiles from Ms. Gloria James, and learning their fractions in the We Are Family pizzeria.
It’s all part of LeBron’s vision to create generational change, which is only possible when we all come together for the greater good.
