LAB Parent
They are our Parent LeBron Advisory Board (LAB), and they put the family in "We are family."
A palpable excitement filled LeBron HQ as the parent LAB’s inaugural meeting was called to order. The group sped through their introductions with kin-like familiarity and quickly began working as they joined our Elementary, Secondary, Community, and National LABS as the Foundation’s leading experts and advisors. Though it was their first meeting – as active I PROMISE Program parents, their knowledge of our curriculum had them in midseason form.
Our parents hail from all corners of Akron. As diverse as they are passionate, our parent LAB members embody the unique fabric of the I PROMISE Program. Since the program’s inception six years ago, our parents have been its backbone of innovation. Their constructive criticism and thoughtful ideation have spurred countless innovations in programming and interventions, most recently including the creation of LeBron’s Hard Work Club. After all, who knows better the needs of our kids than their parents? They are intimately in tune with what motivates and inspires our students, which is inside information we need to be effective in our long-term efforts.
We are thankful, hopeful, and excited for the I PROMISE Program’s future under our Parent LAB’s leadership.
We are family.
