"These cupcakes are no joke!" – LeBron James
LeBron takes great pride in striving to be the best both on the court and off the court. His fervor for greatness off the court permeates all aspects of his life from business, to being a dad, to… cupcakes.
When LeBron was working in Miami, a hometown husband and wife duo crossed paths with the Foundation. It was love at first bite, and soon a partnership and friendship were born that continues to raise money and awareness for LeBron’s Wheels for Ed and Akron I PROMISE Network kids.
Their delicious cupcakes were not what led to the partnership (although, they most certainly didn’t hurt). Jason and LaKisha, the owners of Baker Blvd., are committed to Akron’s kids and to giving back to their community.
In March 2014, the Foundation and Baker Blvd. released their first signature cupcake, the Just A Kid From Akron Cherry Cola Cupcake. Why Cherry Cola? "We took our inspiration for the taste from one of LeBron’s favorite childhood treats, Cherry Coke," explained Michele Campbell, the Executive Director of the LeBron James Family Foundation.
Fifty percent of the proceeds from every Cherry Cola cupcake sold goes back to the Foundation, and boy, have we sold a lot of cupcakes!
